Just a drinker with a keyboard. Let's see what happens.

Well, thank heavens we’ve got 24 more hours to avoid a lockout of the NFL! I mean, where would we be without the games? What will we do with our Sundays without the NFL?

…wait a minute. Isn’t it the off-season? What the hell are we so scared about, football fans? I mean, as long as everyone comes to their senses by late July, is there really a problem? I would think the only thing to fear is players being left to their own devices the whole summer, which might lead to any number of bad decisions.

The reasons the coverage of this potential work stoppage is scaring our sports media shitless is that if the owners decide breaking the union is far more important keeping the league going at its most successful point, they not only take the NFL with it, but everyone who benefits from its coverage. I love baseball, but if you think pennant races, along with NASCAR and golf tournaments in the dog days of August are driving the same amount of traffic to foxsports.com and viewers to SportsCenter, you’re sadly mistaken. Fantasy hockey is not what keeps the likes of Matthew Berry employed, my friends.

So yeah, it makes a ton of sense that the sports media is frightened and hopes a deal gets struck soon so they can get back to incorrectly predicting where Cam Newton will go in the draft. But that doesn’t mean you have to be….well, until your fantasy draft gets canceled.
